the scary part
is that I am no longer
waking up in the middle of the night
overwhelmed by the toxic smell
of cigar smoke
Instead, I am now sleeping through it
as if I have adjusted to breathing it in
When I wake up,
the smell chokes me
but, somehow, it no longer wakes me up

It is almost over
